The Second Annual Alumni Invitational Golf Tournament has been
Set for May 3rd, 2008 at A.L. Gustin in Columbia. This year, the
tournament will be part of a bigger event, which is Founder's Day
Weekend at MO ALPHA.
Brothers,
Get your 4 man teams together, because the Second Annual Alumni Invitational has been set, as part of Founder's Day Weekend at MO Alpha.
For those of you who missed last year's Inaugural Tournament. We had about 85 participants, and a close battle that came down to the 18th hole.
Last Year's Tourney winners were Matt Allen(1993), Mike Messer(1993), Sam McPheeters(1993), and Jeff Mazur (1995). The winning team, will be presented with a trophy at this year's tournament; which will go on display at the Phi Delt House. Also, Matt Allen will receive the 1st Ever Blue Jacket (awarded to the winning team's MVP). Matt clinched the victory last year with a 22 foot putt, on the final hole.
So let's get our teams together, and have another strong showing this year. Our goal is to have 125 participants, but we think we could easily get 175 (being that this is also a Founder's Day Weekend). We want to see members from all over the state this time around. Sikeston, Springfield, and St. Joe . . . you guys had very little presence last year (if any), so let's step it up this time around. We know there are some great golfers residing there . . . so let's go.
This
is the initial notification, letting all members know about the tourney
and the Founder's Day Weekend. More information will be coming to the
www.mizzouphidelts.net (as well as this blog,including . . .
For Now, just Mark Your Calendars, and start thinking about, who you want to play on your team.

The
time for the Alumni/Dad's Weekend tailgate is set for 11:30 am this
Saturday as our Tigers battle the high-powered offense of the Texas
Tech Red Raiders. The game will kick off at 2:30, so we welcome all
of our MO Alpha Phi Delt alumni and fathers of the members to come out
and enjoy all the pre-game festivities in parking lot G behind the
South end of the stadium. Posted at 09:44 PM in Alumni | Permalink | Comments (0)
The MO Alpha chapter of Phi Delta Theta would like to welcome all of its alumni to attend the Alumni tailgate before the Texas Tech game on October 20th. This is Mizzou's Homecoming weekend so we wanted to give all of our alumns ample time to make arrangements to come down to Columbia.
As for the Alumni tailgate on the 20th, it will be held in Parking Lot G behind the Stadium. So tell all of your fellow Phis to attend this event and come celebrate Homecoming weekend the right way. This tailgate will also support Dad's weekend, so this will be a great location to hang out before the game. We hope to see all of you at this event, and especially the champions of the 1st annual Alumni Invitational Golf Tournament so they can claim their prize.
Our beloved Tigers are currently 4-0 and are about to engage in a Big 12 battle tomorrow evening at 8:15 against the Cornhuskers of Nebraska. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN, so hopefully our Tigers will perform for the nation to see.
Don't forget to join the Phi Delta Theta MO Alpha Network...read the article below for details.

Dear Alumni,
We've recently established a New Online Active/Alumni collaborative network for Phi Delta Theta - MO Alpha. We encourage all Alumni members to join the network and help MO-Alpha grow toward the future.
In the past year we started a website/blog and drove our web traffic from 100 hits the previous year to over 18,000 hits this past school year (we also collected over 150 e-mail addresses of alumni from around the country). In an effort to continue our Alumni Relations and web presence, we are now creating the MO Alpha Network to offer custom profiles, collaboration, contribution, etc. We know you've entered your information once or twice before, but this new network will override all of that, and we promise to be, bigger and better. Once you join the network, you can see all of the member profiles under the "member tab" and you can also invite other MO Alpha Phis to join the network.
Registration instructions are easy. Go to http://www.mizzouphidelts.net/join and type in the invitation code of "moalpha". Once you do this, click on the "", type in your e-mail (and we suggest you pick your own user name and password). Once you do that, you should be in the network. After initial sign up, access to the network can be found at www.mizzouphidelts.net (in the top right corner where it says login).
Thanks for your support, and we hope you can join the network. For any questions, e-mail us at contact@mizzouphidelts.com

Tied for the lead in the clubhouse, "Bond" is called for the tie-breaker! Allen wins MVP!
The first annual Alumni/Active Invitational ended in dramatic fashion with a dead tie in the clubhouse. The team of Matt Allen, Jeff Mazur, Sam McPheeters & Mike Messer finished the day at (-9) only to have Kyle Stewart, Tim Stewart, Tim Mose & Nick Powers match the score (as the last team remaining). After a quick, and not very heated debate, it was obvious that the tie breaker would come down to whoever had the lowest bond number. McPheeters happened to be the lowest with #2257, and the team of 1993/95 put the boys of 2007-08 in their place.
Matt Allen went on to say, "It’s just too bad that we had to pull BOND on the actives. But we can't help that we are fifteen years older, and therefore deserve the Blue Jackets more than they do. Not to mention, they had a last minute replacement, who was a ringer and not a Phi . . . so that made calling BOND that much easier."
The field was strong all day long, and the bar was set high at (-8) by the first team into the clubhouse (Lynn Miller, Bill Payne, Greg Thackery, and Rusty Coats).
Four other teams matched their performance at (-8), including Team Crocker, Brett, Huffman & Bowlby. (Bowlby was a last minute replacement for Mark Feurebacher, the team's ringer; who called in sick the day of the tourney).
Chris Crocker had this to say, "Jake was awesome as a last minute replacement; but who knows what would have happened if "The Fever" would have been able to play. He was our best player by far, and it really hurt us, when he backed out at the last minute. It's hard to swallow, when we were only one stroke off the lead without him. I think the Jackets would have been ours if Mark had played. Oh well, better luck next year."
Allen Wins MVP Honors
MVP was a tough choice for the first tourney with 3 players playing very strong for the winning team. The title went to Matt Allen, due to his eagle chip on #11, and 22-ft Putt for Birdie on #18 (to take the lead into the clubhouse). Even though, Messer was a monster off of the tee box all day, and Mazur was Mr. Clutch on the Back 9; Matt's consistency and important shots down the stretch, helped him walk away with the title.

The following list is made up of the teams, and their tee times for the Golf Tournament this coming Saturday. If you don't see your name listed, and you still want to play . . . show up at A. L. Gustin on Saturday when the festivities begin (at 10 AM), and we will find you a team. We also have 2 to 3 extra tee times, if you want to bring your own team.
As for now, here are the 21 teams participating in the First Annual Alumni/Active Invitational. (Please note, we tried pairing each team according to pledge class, and or time relevance of when each participant lived in the house. If anyone has a problem with their team, please let us know at contact@mizzouphidelts.com)
As you may notice there may be a few threesomes participating; but if stragglers show up Saturday, we will fill the holes. We may even have a couple of the Cart Girls play. Who knows? Just look for your team and tee time, and do not be late. Again festivities begin at 10 AM. Food starts being served at 11 AM. See you there.
Thanks,
- The Alumni Relations Committee

ATTN TO ALL ALUMNI - It recently came to our attention that the "Mailing Address" on the Golf Tournament entry form was incorrect. The form stated "room - 138", but should have been listed as "room - 38". The correceted registration form is linked below (and is also located to the left in the sidebar). If you already mailed an entry form in, chances are it will be returned. We apologize about the inconvenience, but we ask that you resubmit another form to the proper address.
For those of you who haven't signed up yet, please do so with the new form.
Thanks,
