One of the most admired Brothers from MO Alpha, Ralph Taylor '40 - Bond #736, has entered the Chapter Grand after a recent fall. We received the news today from Conrad Thiede; fellow Phi and close friend of Brother Taylor.
Brother Thiede had this to say about his Brother in the Bond, "He was a great friend, a great Phi, and he has made our Fraternity a better organization thanks to his membership in it"
Brother Taylor was a remarkable man, a decorated veteran, and very dedicated to Phi Delta Theta.
He was the 2000 recepient of the "Raymond L. Garnder Alumnus of the Year Award" and was honored with the "Ralph Taylor Director of Development Office" in the new wing of the Phi Delta Theta Headquarters building in Oxford.
His dedication to the University of Missouri and Phi Delta Theta Fraternity was well dispalyed in his contribution, as well as the naming rights, of Mizzou's new baseball stadium. On April 8th, 2000, the inagural pitch was thrown at "Ralph and Debbie Taylor - Phi Delta Theta Stadium".
The link below is an in depth article (from "The Scroll") about Brother Taylor. The article highlights the dedication and commitment which he had for our Fraternity. We should read it with great pride and respect for our beloved Brother, and try to model ourselves and our commitment toward the fraternity, as he did. It would make him proud to know that his legacy lives on with MO Alpha, as well as the University of Missouri.
Funeral services will be held in Kansas City on Monday, probably late morning. We are still waiting for further details and will keep you posted. It would be nice to have representation, from our brothers in the KC area, if at all possible.
